Painting.. Painting.. PAINTING!!!

I bet you can't tell what we've been doing the past few days... Yep! You guessed it... PAINTING! Hillary and I have been painting some of my furniture to get it ready for our house in Kentucky. As of right now we are  painting the living room furniture. We've decided on brown, green, teal, and a little bit of black for the living room. Brown will be walls, couches, and rug. Green will be accent wall, pillows, and rug. Teal will be pillows and... FURNITURE! I know I know.. sounds crazy, huh? But it looks awesome.

Here's a little sneak peek of what we've done so far...

We painted the sofa table completely TEAL!

Bye bye brown table... Hello sleek black table with blue accents.

Painting the legs of the kitchen table...

The 2 end tables and the sofa table are totally finished with THREE coats of paint each! I'm in <3 with the sofa table :)

As you can see we're leaving some of the coffee table black... The teal is finished, so we just have to cover up the old charcoal color with true black and it will be complete.

After a long day of work and painting :)

Hillary has to go back to working her 12 hour shifts tomorrow. Thankfully, I am off work, so I will be able to finish up what we have left. HOPEFULLY! After we finish up with the living room furniture, we'll be moving on to my bedroom. I have to start hunting an old dresser and nighstand I can spruce up with a little paint. Consignment stores, craigslist, and yard-sales, here I come! Ha! You know what's funny? Well, I used to make fun of how my momma and my sister watched HGTV all the freakin time. However, I have to confess that Hillary and I watch it non stop now! Haha! Since we've started thinking of decorating ideas, we've been glued to it. I must say that we both love Color Splash! That is definitely our #1.

Well, that's about all we've done the past week... work and paint, work and paint, work and paint. This weekend is the 4th and we're going to my aunt's house in Alabama to grill out and swim on Saturday. Hillary is coming with us too! :) So, expect a blog and pictures from all the festivities! You just don't know what will happen when you get my looney toon family all together.. Haha!

love,
HnF

How the Kentucky Journey Began...

I just wanted to take the time to tell you how Hillary and I ended up moving to Kentucky. For Hillary, she went to Motlow right after high school in the fall of 2008 to play ball. I, on the other hand, had a more of a hilly and curvy road leading to where we are today. I played ball at Lipscomb in 2005-2006 and decided it wasn't for me. I had come to the conclusion my softball days were over. I then started teaching pitching lessons in and around the nearby cities of Manchester. THEN, I got a call from my high school coach. He offered me a job as an assistant coach! I had been told many times that I should be a coach, but I didn't ever think I would want to pursue that. However, I thought I would give it a shot. After coaching with him for 2 years, he made me get the softball itch again. I decided I wanted to give playing one more shot. So, a few phone calls were made and I became apart of the Motlow softball team. Hillary and I didn't know eachother till fall of 2009. It took us about a month or so before we really started talking and we realized that we were long lost friends! We've been inseparable ever since. We had discussed about how awesome it would be if we could go to the same school after Motlow. We thought it would be a long shot considering my only options were to go NAIA because my eligibility was up for NCAA. In November of 2009, we get a call from the coach at Union College and he wants not just one of us but BOTH of us! AND Union is NAIA! We couldn't of been more excited. December 2009, we went on our visit and toured the campus. We fell in love with the small school and the very small town that was surrounded by mountains. We knew that this is where we wanted to be. So, scholarships were discussed and an agreement was reached and a month later in January 2010 we signed the dotted line to attend and play softball at Union College! Here are a few pictures of Hillary and I playing this past spring at Motlow and our picture of us signing with Union... ENJOY! :)
