We Got the House!

Well, this blog isn't going to be very long. I just wanted to update everyone on what's been going on. As you all know from the last blog, we were really hoping to get the house that the Catholic church owned. Well....... WE GOT IT!! The lease papers just came in the mail so we could go over them, but we won't fill them out till we get up there. We are moving August 15, which is not very far away (19 days I believe). Hillary and I can't believe it's almost here. We have been looking forward to moving since we signed with Union back in January! My mom and dad moved all our furniture to  one side of the basement to see what all we had to pack, and I knew everything that we had painted looked good. But, seeing it all sitting next to one another, I have to say it looks pretty awesome! Hillary and I found us a rug at Lowes that goes perfectly with everything in our living room. It's a 5x8 brown rug with  teal, green, and tan leaves on it. I also bought us a rug to go under our kitchen table. We will definitely post a House Tour blog when we get up there!

On to other news, Hillary is in Florida at Disney World with her family. She left out this past Saturday, and this is the longest we've been without seeing each other. It's so weird not having her around, and my mom and dad miss her too! But as soon as she gets back we'll have 2 weeks before the big move!

So, that's pretty much the update. Sorry there isn't any pictures. We've been slacking haha.

Until next time,

House Option #1

Hillary and I have been looking for houses since we decided to go to Union. However, Barbourville, Kentucky has obviously never heard of the internet. No matter what configuration of "houses for rent" we put into Google, we came up empty every time! We tried a different method and my momma and dad called the Chamber of Commerce lady and she gave them some telephone numbers of people she knew with rental property. So, we started calling to see if anything was available. Luck would have it, that all houses were already rented. Hillary and I were so disappointed. We really wanted to live in a house so we could make it our "home." No matter what you do to an apartment, it never really feels like home. AND being older, we really didn't want to have to put up with the noise and nonsense from the underclassmen haha.

My dad has this number for a guy named Tim. So, he gave him a call and left him a message saying we were looking for rental property and to give us a call back. He was one of many my dad had called and it was hard to keep numbers straight, but that night my dad received a call from Barry. He said he was with a Catholic church in Barbourville and they had a rental house they were redoing. He gave all the details to my dad and it seemed PERFECT!

This past Friday Hillary, her mom, and step-dad Jamey headed up there to look at that house and to see what else they could find. They looked around at a few other places but everything was already rented up except a trailer. The trailer was nice, but they wouldn't allow dogs (which means my Reebok couldn't come) and we weren't allowed to paint or anything. So, after their trip up there it was down to the church house or the trailer. My parents left this morning to head up there to take a look for themselves, so a decision could be made and a deposit could be put down.

My parents went up to the Catholic church's house to meet Barry in person and to take a look around. After viewing the house, Barry asked how my dad ended up with his number. He pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket showing Barry all the numbers he had and told him that the Chamber of Commerce lady had given him a whole bunch of numbers. Barry thought it was odd that she knew of him and the church having a house for rent. But neither one of them really though much of it. So, my parents then went to eat and dad pulled out the paper with all the numbers on it to see if he could find Barry's number. He got to looking and didn't see it. So, he looked at his phone to see the number that Barry was calling from. And get this... my dad did NOT have Barry's number. Barry and Tim had the same last 4 digits in the same order except the last 2 were reversed. So, when my dad was supposed to be calling Tim, he reversed the last 2 numbers and actually called Barry! TRUE STORY! My momma said it was divine intervention that we were supposed to live in the church house haha.. It really is crazy that he called the wrong number and actually got someone with rental property available. It definitely is fate!

Anyways, my parents are still up there and are going to take a look around some more tomorrow. They said that they think they've covered everything but couldn't find any other possibilities. Hopefully, a decision will be made and Hillary and I will officially have a house in Kentucky! We can't wait!

This is the house by the Catholic church that will hopefully be our new home!

A Day Spent Making the Loop

WOW! It has been so long since our last blog. We both have been busy with working and getting everything ready for Kentucky that Hillary and I just haven't had time to sit down and blog. Anyways, back to this blog... Well, the week after the 4th of July my momma, my sister Danielle, Hillary, Owen & Maddux, and I went on a journey to find a dresser and a nightstand to take to Kentucky. We started out headed to Tullahoma and checked out their Goodwill, but we came up empty. So, off to Shelbyville we went. We stopped at their Goodwill first and found a dresser for $70, but it needed to be painted (and we all know how much I just LOVE to paint...NOT!). We also found a nightstand there for $6, which is a steal! I decided to go to this store I found online called "Second Time Around" to see if they had anything before we jumped and bought the Goodwill dresser. At the other store, we walk in and there sits a very nice large dresser already painted black! What luck! It was priced at $80, and it was worth the extra 10 bucks for it to be already painted haha. We purchased the black dresser and headed back to Goodwill to purchase the nightstand. So, mine and Hillary's furniture shopping days are FINISHED! WOO HOO!!

After our adventure furniture shopping, we all headed to Bell Buckle to eat lunch at the Bell Buckle Cafe and to walk around. Danielle, Owen & Maddux have never been to Bell Buckle, so they were all excited. After lunch, we headed outside and walked in and browsed all the antique stores. We also enjoyed ourselves some yummy icecream! Owen's favorite part about Bell Buckle was the parade of trains every 20 minutes. We took him over to the train car they have on display by the post office, and he just thought it was the coolest thing.
So, that was our day spent making the loop from Manchester to Tullahoma to Shelbyville to Bell Buckle to Beechgrove and back to Manchester. Here our some pictures from our great day...

Independence Day Weekend Celebration

This was the first year that my family has celebrated the 4th with all of us together. We all met up down at my Aunt Lisa and Uncle Danny's house in Alabama. There was swimming, 4-wheelers, a mule (gas powered, not a legit animal like my granny thought.. ha!), and a bulldozer (my dad's big tonka toy). We grilled out burgers and hot dogs and had some homemade snickers ice cream! Hillary was also there for the festivities, because she is apart of our family too! Momma said..ha! Here are a few pictures from the eventful weekend...

Owen swam the whole time on his 2 noodles. He does such a good job holding on all by himself at 2 years old.

Pitstop at Sonic!

Our nervous faces for the drive home, because our drive down wasn't so pleasant with the scenic route and a lead foot driver haha

This is Hil trying to shimmie on the way home from Alabama. She obviously has had lessons... from the Tin Man! haha

So, that was our wonderful Independence Day weekend. This week I have to work and so does Hil. But on a more exciting note, my momma will be heading to Kentucky this coming weekend to look for us a house! Hil and I can't go because of work, so I'll be sending my momma with the camera to document her journey (she doesn't know this yet... haha). We are getting so excited about moving. We hit the sale at Hobby Lobby on Friday and got some really good deals. We will blog and show pictures of all our stuff when we get everything together and finished. Anyways, I hope you all had great weekend. Be looking for a new blog at the end of the week hopefully saying we got a house! Until next time..
Love,
